SÃCÃRÂMB: PLEADING FOR”ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT"

For modern life, a renewing architecture shall be able to recover and mediate natural harmony between human and his cosmic roots, between culture and nature. LIGHT can be considered like an archetype: physical, biological and psychosocial, in order to unite not only as symbol, human life and its already-made framework. We can also consider "The Architecture of Light" - having human being ("being of light") as an essential "measure" - as integrating, according to the equation:

INTEGRATING ARCHITECTURE (CIVIL PLANNING) = Nature + Architectural Object + Culture.

As it describes a model of "architectural semyosis" (civil planning), our work considers "the determination of light" for optimising the following factors:

 · the shapes of natural landscape (geographic environmental conditions), determining for what we might call "ecologic civil planning", on one hand and for "city profile" (line of light), on the other hand; recovering for the shapes of civil architecture of several natural harmony relationships (those of the "golden cut", for instance).

· the object of architecture (the already-made framework: civil residence, for instance) could mediate (through a wise "civil policy") the relationship between:

— FUNCTION ("transparency of the plan" of the building) + STRUCTURE (measurement instruments and devices, able to use "the effects of light") + FORMS (involving the symbolism of “sacred volumes” - of light, colours, proportions etc.);

— cultural context (traditions, aspirations, living conditions, migrations, etc.) it is determining for a “social architecture” (individual), for a harmonious/“bright life”.

PROGRAMMING PRINCIPLES OF "ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT"

· The shape follows the function and the function allows the shape to become real

(the principle of functional architecture).

· Fundamental shapes of nature are generated by light

(principle of bio-photonics).

· Light is responsible for fundamental shapes and functions

(principle of "architecture of light").

The present chapter represents a scientific explanation of the fact that fundamental shapes of natural world are established by the presence and action of invisible forces, like electro-magnetic fields (of light). In such conditions, the intention of elaborating ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT is perfectly justified. It helps Culture to create an optimising harmony with Nature.

In order to give back to the human being the privilege of "essential joy", the dignity of being a cosmic as well as a social being, the so-called programme "ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT" - the Complex of Sacaramb is perfectly subordinated to it - began to have contour. In such context, as a conclusion of the already developed subjects, we mean to state all the directions of principles that such programme is proposing to us.

As it subordinates to the program ting idea of "Architecture as resource", the integrating vision proposed by”Architecture of Light" is characterised by the following renewing aspects:

· it is subordinating to the idea of "ORIGINAR/(RE) SOURCE", that is to say, it returns to the concept and application of principles of harmony that are essentially designed among the following dimensions: cosmic/terrestrial, special (up/down, vertical/horizontal, volume/plan, external/internal), temporal (past/future), structural (shapes), functional (contain);

· it is an INTEGRATING-HUMAN ARCHITECTURE, as it combines the principles of architecture: Organic + Functional + Structural, ensuring the human being as individual (bio-psychic-logic) and global/of group (social);

· it has TRANSDICIPLINARY CHARACTER as it finds the implications of an unifying paradigm as concept (metaphysics), as well as constructive plan (physical) of architecture: LIGHT, as determining resource for all plans of human life (physic, biologic, psycho-social):

· it combines TRADITION with INOVATION, by interfering some currents already existing in architecture, with the principles of a new eco-systemic vision, based on: Holograph, Synergy, and Holism;

· it "lives" as ARCHETYPAL MEMORY, as it describes the transformation of human aspirations, by "turning" them from Nature to Culture, from intuition to (techno) logy, by individual to global/diversity, from ethnic to universal.

According to these characteristics, the programme "ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT" is subordinated to the general and specific RESULTS that the programme "ARCHITECTURE AS RESOURCE" is meant for. [Poenaru, 2002]
