TOURISTIC OPPORTUNITIES AND MUCH MORE

The most exact data about the tourist-geographical, economic-historical and social-cultural state of the locality are contained by the website www.turismtur.ro/turism.htm, that considers the locality one of the tourist triangle:

·  Sacarâmb/Geoagiu Resort (11 km away, across the mountains);

· Orastie–Sarmizegetusa (the area of Dacian citadels);

· Mount Retezat chain (“energetic gate” from the Western side of the country).

    1. Infrastructure. In order to arrive to the studied area, you have to follow the asphalted road, coming from the West part of the country: Deva–Soimus-Certej-Sâcarâmb. The asphalted road lasts for about 2,5 km, till the "downtown" of Sacaramb; to reach the location of the complex, you should follow the paved road.  In the area of the complex, the road continues its way towards East, on un unpaved road - forestry road - that connects Sacaramb to Geaogiu resort, till it comes to the county road Dj 705, that connects Hunedoara County to Alba County, near the commune Balsa. This road was proposed for the financing of the project enforced with the designing and modernization since 2005. It has already been entirely classified as a county road, enforced by the Government Decision no. 900/1996.
    The road has a double function:
- a strategic (military) function, meant for penetrating the mountains - by a connection road Deva-Geoagiu-Deva, towards Alba County and Apuseni Mountains;
- tourist function, as it connects Sacaramb to the already known circuit of Geoagiu-Bai spa: well-known for its thermal waters, used for curing ever since the Dacian-Roman period (also called Germisara).

    While we travel the region, we shall find wonderful sceneries. Therefore, paving the road is perfectly explained. The access to the area meant for establishing the complex, shall be accomplished on two straps, connected to the road that allows the access from "Sacarâmbul de jos" to „Sacarâmbul de sus”, where he complex shall be built.
    If we consider all endowments that shall be established in the area meant for leisure and pleasure, we can consider it to begin from the border of the road that leads to Geoagiu-Bai.

Tourist map of the area: Sacarâmb as end road

    “Sacarâmb is situated in Hunedoara County, on the right bank of the river Mures, Northern from the town of Deva. It belongs to the localities lied in the mountain chain called Setras, from the Metallic Mountains, in Ardeal Region. It lies at 24 km from Deva. It is situated at 23° 01' 45" longitude and 45° 57' 45" latitude from the meridian of Ferro Island. Heading for the Northern part of the region - from Deva - the village is easy to be found, up in the mountains, like a conglomerate of small white houses and three churches (nowadays, one of the churches lies in ruins, as it was hit by a thunder in 1970, n.n. AP). It looks like a bas-relief on a fairytale-blue background.
    According to I. Steinhausz (1904) the village is situated at an altitude of 750 m from the seabed. Sacarâmb lies in an open basin towards the Eastern side. It is very picturesque and travellers consider it to vie with the most beautiful regions in the world, for its geologic fame. All those who are charmed by the fairytale landscape shall find a wonderful view when reaching Sacaramb by climbing up the peaks here. It is worth "fighting" against the difficulties of such climbing. Down, the winding silver waters of the river Mures, the villages spread all over its valley, the town of Deva and its lights - seem to be Venice, as seen from the heights of Sacaramb. In the distance, the gigantesque Mount Retezat, lies in the Northern part, meanwhile, if you watch it from the Gurguiata top (1085 m), you can see the rugged relief of The Country of Moti people ("Tara Motilor").” [Armeanca, 1932: 7-8]

Ways of access from Deva train station

    Such a wonderful landscape was appropriate for the development of the locality: The most famous attribute was the golden ore - of pure quality - called "sacarâmbita."
    The monograph, written by Pavel Mogosan (1994-2002), contains the most complex description of the locality:
         “Sacarâmb belongs to the commune of Certejul de Sus, from Hunedoara County. The altitude from the Black Sea bed is somewhere between 600 and 1,000 m. It lies on the Setras mountain chain, in the Southeast side of the Metal Mountains.  Sacarâmb was famous in world literature, not only due to its gold ore, but also more due to the existence of „METALLUM PROBLEMATICUM", “AURUM PARADOXUM", also known as SACARÂMBIT.

Pine and beech forests - real columns towards the sky

    They say Sacaramb is one of the most highly energetic areas in the world and one of the biggest concentration points of world energy. That specialists made statement (belonging to "The European Society for Radiance Techniques and Spiritual Harmony (SETRAS)") - contained by thorough scientific studies.
    It is not by hazard that SETRAS "has been fighting" for many years, now, to change the already-made concepts of the authorities, and establishing at Sacaramb a complex - "The International Health Center", based on using complementary therapies. Although, the village stretches across the mountains (relatively high: 600 - 900 m), the air has the quality of high mountain ozone (more than 3,000 m in height): pure and filled with negative ions. Only we, the Romanians, could shape a destiny like that for the village of Sacaramb. We have always been able "to shine" and the very next moment to forget about our accomplishments. The "shining" of Sacaramb resides throughout history.

    The legend says that in the first part of the 18th century, the Romanian peasant ION ORMINDEAN from Nojag discovered an interesting stone in the forest where he fed his pigs. It shined in the sunshine. When he took it to be studied in the mining laboratories of the Hapsburg Empire, it was proved to contain gold combined with unidentified chemical elements. The discovery coincided with the decision of the Empress Mary Theresa for the establishment of the reform and revitalisation of the golden mining in Transylvania. The first gallery was the Old Gallery, called Mary: it penetrated the mountain in 1746. Nowadays, the mountain is simply "riddled" by thousands of kilometres of galleries; many of them were abandoned more than 100 years ago. The documents of that time say that for almost two centuries (18th and 19th century) the entire mining complex was considered to have the highest profitableness in Europe. Between 1748 and 1876, for 128 years, 40 tons of gold were extracted from that ore.

     The locality developed along with the mine. In 1835, it was established the first "Professional School of Mining" from the South-Eastern Europe. In 1862, it turned into the College of Engineers, also the first established in this part of the continent. In those times, students from all over the Europe studied here, in the mines. Between 1920-1930, Sacaramb had 14,000-15,000 inhabitants (for instance, Deva had almost 8,000 inhabitants). There were several banks, workshops, three butcheries, a brewery, shops, etc. There was also a casino. The "axis of Transylvanian gold" passed through Abrud-Zlatna-Sacaramb... The admirable location, made Sacaramb represent one of the most important points of "cosmic resistance" of ancient Dacia and nowadays Romania. The site we have already mentioned, presents the village as follows:

    “During more than two and a half centuries, the village of Sacaramb has been described in several writings. In the 19th century, mining specialists from the entire Europe, even from Brazil and U.S.A., searched in detail, the strange amount of Chemical elements there were to be found inside the heart of the mountain with the same name as the village. It represented a real mineralogy lab which was unique in the world: on a surface covering only 1 square km, more than 100 types of minerals were discovered. Two of them, “silvanit” and “sacarambit”, are unique in the world. Other five were discovered here, also for the first time. The corresponding elements were discovered later on, somewhere in South Africa. All metals are to be found here: zinc, lead, copper, gold, silver and even uranium. So, we shall not wonder about the magnetism and radiant energies here, considering such composition of the soil and underground.

or "Coltul cu Crucea" ("The Cross Corner") - one can see the remains of the mines in the center.

    Then, the decline began. From more than 2,000 houses, today there are only about a tenth. People from neighbourhood towns could come here and build their modern holiday residences, determined by the beauty of those places and the purity of the air here. Perhaps, an investor willing to understand that Sacaramb can shine again like gold could come here, too.
    The explanatory complaint written by mister Alexandru Pavel Tokar, President of SETRAS Deva-Romania, could be his source of inspiration. Nature offers all the needed cures for maintaining human health, some of them very rare. On the steep slopes of Sarcau, there are wild flags, and in stony places there are real carpets of wild pelargonium, species of blue gentian and vinca minor. Downstream, on a square of 10-15 km, there are springs of mineral water: carbon-gaseous and thermal.
    Studies prove that their springs are here, under Sacaramb Mountain. The beauty of silvery beech trees, the silence of these places and the pure cosmic energy make you feel like you were in a temple..." Among the qualities of the drinking water, we shall point out the potential redox, the capacity of water to decrease the number of oxides. There are negative ions in the water, that is to say, free electrons that connect free radicals.
    The measurements made with the device called Hanna Instruments, at several springs in Sacaramb, came to the following results: + 56, + 59 mV = value pH of human blood.
    Comparing to:
- drinking water in most of the towns + 480 mV;
- spring water from high mountains – 200 up to – 400 mV;
- still mineral water, between + 60 and + 250 mV.

    Based on already-mentioned monographic aspects, several arguments are in favour of the establishment of "The Health and Leisure Complex". An intuitive formulation contained all these arguments and "The European Society Radiance Technique and Spiritual Harmony (SETRAS)" supported them. From 1994, the society proposed the establishment of "The International Health Center", as "a device" for using complementary therapies. The President of the Society, Mister Alexandru Pavel Tokar, presented these aims in an article from a widely known magazine:

  “SETRAS supports the argument that it is he ideal location for connecting to universal energy (...). Here, we have a huge center that represents a very important channel of communication with the Universe. The vibrations of the place are very high and good for human health. Specialists in radiant technique, that have accomplished several measurements at Sacaramb, explain the highest concentration of good energy (700 times bigger than in a usual site) by the existence of the former volcanic cone where the locality is situated. Due to its pyramidal shape, it gathers pure cosmic energy. The massive layers of gold and noble metals that, on one hand, allow terrestrial energies to penetrate and on the other hand, amplify pure cosmic energy by reflection reflect this energy.

Radi-esthesics specialists call Sacaramb THE TEMPLE OF MOTHER GODDESS. They have identified one of the tops of "The Triangle of Life": Manipura (ocean of energy corresponding to the solar plexus). The other two tops have to be situated in the Rarau Mountains (The Centre of the Heart) and Sumleu (The Center of the Crown)."

    In 1803, Andreas Stütz described the area as follows: "The big/new lake is situated upwards the locality, towards East, among the hills and its volume is of 980,000 buckets. The volume ensures the functioning of all needed devices, for 14 days. It is the "pair" of the Lake Faierag, only that the latter lies higher, in a beautiful and merry place, surrounded by grasslands and a grove. From its dam, there is an open view towards the forests of Varmaga and the hereabouts hills. When we get close to Sacaramb, the horizon goes farther; we have stayed here for a little while, till the sunset, and we had no reason to regret it. The scenery is fantastic: coloured in Italian red. These kinds of sceneries are rare: pure air, clean and transparent atmosphere, the sky coloured in red and yellow. On the right side - higher mountains (Csertas mountain chain), seen in the distance - a game of lights and shadows, with their red tips and green forests (different shades of green). In the horizon, Hateg Mountains with their snowy tips. Down beneath us, Sacaramb and its residences and mine buildings, seem microscopically: tens of smaller and bigger hills; on the right-side: Mures River and its silvery waters, meandering towards Banat Region."

2. Compatible function of the area.
The types of functions appropriate for this area will be those of a spa:
 - accommodation, by developing the agro-mountain tourism (including food supply);
- social function correlated to the idea of „human optimisation”: medical, leisure and treatment, pleasure;
- cultural-education function, recovering cultural traditions (folk, by establishing an International Cultural Center and an UNESCO Center for Transylvania Region) with therapeutic value; tourism, public food supply, sports (the locality is declared as "Landscape Reservation", including the "Reservation of White Beech Seeds" - called „The Silver Forest”);

    New functions appeared following the integration of the locality in the vast tourist circuit (SETRAS organizes every year "International Camps for Complementary Therapies" - 9th edition in 2005).

Special opportunities. Several criteria support the idea of choosing this location:
- harmonious "cosmic meeting" of the mountain area with the grassland region: forest-water (lake), in a space meant for a bio-psycho-logic optimisation, good for human beings;
- the existence of old traditions for using the flora and fauna potential of the site - having a therapy-natural function (the area has an exceptional potential, since here we can find medical/cure plants and forest fruits); due to the relatively mild climate, we can also find plants from Mediterranean region;
- the use of the area potential of Hunedoara County - tourist objectives: Geoagiu resort, Retezat Mountain Reservation, Dacian citadels etc.;
- the town of Deva is situated at a few km away from Sacarâmb - a good proximity since:

        - here, there are all ways of access: both national and international (international train station, future international airport-civil and military use, routes, etc), which will allow the perfect receiving of all visitors of the complex (patients, researchers and teachers, students, etc.) from the country and abroad;
        - the human potential (specialists, personnel etc.) needed for supporting the activity of the complex; - groups of specialists from the domain of complementary therapies from Deva would be able to held certain subjects of the medical programme that the complex shall initiate;
        - Deva lies at the "crossroad" of national and international roads: N-S and E-W in Transylvania.

    The future developing state of facts involves several favourable aspects, correlated with:

     - The tendencies for area development. Both long-term civil planning and the survey of the urban and geographic structure of the area and surroundings; we can establish the possibility of grouping the spa-resort features of the area Sacarâmb-Geoagiu.
    - The wonderful natural potential of the area - beginning with terrestrial resources (underground Sacaramb, there are 104 Chemical elements contained by Mendeleev table: they produce an extraordinarily energetic power - we shall establish a mining museum here) and cosmic (ozone) resources; also the existence of medical plants and mineral waters - the future development is perfectly explained.

    Considering all the energetic principles (already mentioned), we can say that the positive arguments for the establishment of the complex are as follows:
    - the complex is situated in an extraordinarily site (terrestrial force), as the radi-esthetics measurements had proved: radiation power and the location of the site are 700 % than normal;
    - water quality – the number of oxidation in the body are decreased - life lasts longer;
    - a proof of the fact that the site is well situated resides from the two historic objectives, exceptional in meaning, situated in the proximity;
    - at approx. 500 m away from the complex, deep in the forest, on a small hill, there are the ruins of a fortified settlement (perhaps a Dacian residence); the Dacians are famous for their art in settling their residences according to belagines, the laws of harmony between heaven and earth;
    - in the proximity of the complex, there are two objectives (at about 100-200 m): a traditional space, where one can still see the remains of a temple (searched by radi-esthetics measurements) - the authentic image of "the light egg".

All these unconventional arguments come to support those already mentioned in order to support the same idea: there is no other appropriate location for a center meant for activities of human optimisation than Sacaramb.
